Hapag Lloyd announced that they will use a fleet planning software to improve their fleet managing operations and make the workflows between the voyage control and execution easier to manage, improving the operations not only for the company, but for the customers as well.
Specifically, Hapag Lloyd will use Portchain’s fleet managing software. Portchain is a provider of advanced analytics and AI solutions for the shipping industry.
Moreover, the software will help the company by identifying any possible issues earlier, something that will improve the company’s planning abilities, schedule reliability and also will reduce the bunker fuel costs.
The software combines large amounts of data with their proprietary machine learning algorithms to provide live insights on issues affecting the schedules of Hapag-Lloyd’s vessels, and will also lead to a more proactive and collaborative way of working.
In light of this software, Drewry recently released a white paper stating that online platforms that enable shipping lines and their customers to communicate better, could enhance vessel utilisation vessels and decrease freight rate volatility.
Jörn Springer, Senior Director, Fleet Support Center at Hapag-Lloyd commented
Portchain’s cloud-based solution provides powerful insights into the robustness of schedules and allows us to quickly make changes in real time. We look forward to creating additional value from this partnership for our customers.
