The Port of Corpus Christi announced that it has become the first port in Texas to be awarded the Green Marine Certification by Green Marine, a voluntary environmental certification program for the North American marine industry.
The certification process requires organizations to benchmark annual environmental performance, and be externally audited. Other organizations that have been named include Port of Seattle, Port Everglades, Port of New Orleans, Ceres Terminals, Glencore, Kinder Morgan Westridge Terminal, Marine Atlantic; and many more.
“The Port of Corpus Christi has once again demonstrated its leadership in achieving this certification in line with the port’s commitment to improving air quality, water quality, soils and sediments, wildlife habitat, and sustainability,” said Sean Strawbridge, Port Corpus Christi Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer.
Green Marine’s environmental program addresses key environmental issues using up to 7 performance indicators for ports and seaports that include reducing air emissions, minimizing community impacts, and demonstrating environmental leadership.
