KPI OceanConnect has supplied 200 metric tons of B24 VLSFO to the bulk carrier GCL Tapi for ArcelorMittal at Fujairah Port, UAE.
The bunkering took place on December 8 at Fujairah anchorage. This marks the first biofuel stem for the Port of Fujairah, followed by a second operation on December 13 for the same client, supplying 200 metric tons of B24 VLSFO to the vessel GCL Sabarmati.
The biofuelsbunkering is on the rise globally, with nearly one million tonnes of biofuel blend bunkered in 2023 in Singapore and the Port of Rotterdam, both significant bunkering hubs.
We expect to see demand for low-carbon energy solutions increase as regulations to restrict greenhouse gas emissions come into force, and consumer pressure for sustainable shipping increases. In response, we continue to develop our infrastructure to support bio and alternative fuel bunkering.
… said Jesper Sørensen, Head of Alternative Fuels and Carbon Markets at KPI OceanConnect
The emerging practice of biofuel bunkering in Fujairah, facilitated by KPI OceanConnect, presents additional possibilities for vessel owners and operators to actively contribute to lowering the net greenhouse gas emissions of their voyages.
To remind, another milestone was recently achieved regarding biofuels, as CSL completed 75,000 running hours on B100 biofuel over four years.
