On Tuesday 16/1/2017, a fire broke out on the Cidade de Maricá FPSO platform, which is operated by the Brazilian, semi-public oil and gas company Petrobras.
The fire that occurred on the FPSO, broke out in the transformers compartment, but it was controlled, as the Cidade de Maricá’s personnel managed to deal with it effectively, using local firefighting equipment, according to Petrobras.
As a result of the fire, the platform has temporarily ceased production, which will continue, once all the security tests have been conducted. No injuries or pollution were reported.
The FPSO is located in the Lula field Lula Alto area, in the Santos Basin pre-salt area, which is operated by a consortium, which consists of Petrobras, BG E&P Brasil and Petrogal Brasil.
