The European Union expressed its support for the first phase of Smart System for the Evaluation and Control of Maritime Safety in Port Access and Operation development, known as Safeport. Designed by Siport21, the investment came through the SME instrument of Horizon 2020 – Research and Innovation Framework Programme.
In fact, Safeport system goals to ensure safety and efficiency to every ship operates in ports under real-time situation, even in case of emergency.
Moreover the system will include all the information concerning the port, ship, weather data, while offers a variety of available analyses, technical studies and operational rules.
All of the above-mentioned are based on the use of modelling, virtual media and simulation.
For the records, the system is in line with the Industry 4.0 and Port of the Future concept.
Concluding, the European initiative will enter the AIRIS II (CEF-UE), which integrates the synchromodality among maritime and land transport (ship, rail and truck) in the supervision of the waterway and the management of operations at the docks.
