Estonian port of Tallinn begins plans to boost its operational efficiency and reduce emissions with the help of Cavotek, that will design, supply, commission and service two multi-unit MoorMaster automated mooring systems.
Specifically, the systems will moor large ro/pax vessels that operate in a service line between Talinn and Helsinki; The systems that will be used at two passenger ferry berths are to replace the MoorMaster systems that have been in operation from 2016.

In addition, MoorMaster enhances safety, reduces environmental impact and increases operational efficiency by removing conventional mooring lines from the mooring process. This dramatically reduces mooring times, vessel motion, fuel consumption and emissions.

Following Port of Tallinn, the Port of Langnas is also to be provided with ‘AutoMoor‘, Telleborg’s automated rope-free mooring system. Specifically, the system is based on smart technologies to provide a faster berthing process, whereas also to improve safety in the port environment.
Another automated mooring achievement is that MacGregor will provide automated mooring system to Yara Birkeland, the world’s first autonomous container ship. The mooring operation will not need human intervention and support effective operation of the fully electric, zero emission vessel.
