Elenger, a subsidiary of Estonian energy company Eesti Gaas operating in foreign markets, began providing LNG bunkering services to LNG-powered vessels in the port of Hanko, Finland for the first time, in addition to Tallinn and Helsinki, where the company already operates.
This means that Elenger will provide two new vessels at the port of Hanko, the largest short sea dual fuel LNG vehicle carriers in the world. The two ships Auto Energy and Auto Eco will transmit new vehicles from EU to Finland and Russia. The ships of ice class 1A Super can accommodate a total of 4,000 vehicles on their ten decks. Both environmentally-friendly roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) ships belong to UECC, a short sea vehicle shipping company.

The company will conduct truck-to-ships bunkerings once a week, every Friday. Four truckloads of LNG, which makes 72 tonnes, will be pumped to the ship. Also, the company informs that it will deliver LNG to the port from Novatek’s LNG plant in Vysotsk.
To conduct the first bunkering at the port, the company took a lot of time and preparation working for the prevention of any possible risks.
As Kalev Reiljan, member of the board at Elenger noted
Thorough groundwork and the extensive experience of our specialists ensured that the first bunkerings in Hanko have gone smoothly as planned
For the time being, Damen, Dutch shipbuilding company, is constructing for Elenger LNG bunkering vessel which is to render services in the northern and eastern part of the Baltic Sea. It will be completed in 2020 and start bunkering environmentally friendly vessels operating in the Gulf of Finland.
