Dorian LPG has signed a Partner Agreement with the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping (the Center), formalizing Dorian LPG as a Mission Ambassador to the independent not-for-profit research and development center.
Dorian LPG will share with the Center its experience and capabilities that are relevant to decarbonization projects.
To meet and exceed the industry’ decarbonization targets there is an essential need for research and development collaboration amongst shipping and logistics organizations. We believe that the Center is performing a very important service to the industry and are happy to contribute Dorian expertise from Copenhagen, Athens, and the U.S. to help facilitate some of their important work
John Hadjipateras, Chairman and CEO of Dorian LPG said.
At the end of 2022, the Center for Zero Carbon Shipping had stated that the maritime industry must take immediate collective action on an unprecedented scale to bring the decarbonization of the industry closer to the Paris 1.5°C trajectory.
More specifically, the publication of a new report urges companies, governments, and individuals across the globe to collectively fast-track decarbonization this decade and outlines key actions that lie ahead regardless of what the end game will be.
Decarbonization won’t happen overnight. We must prepare ourselves for decades of working together towards this common goal. We must change our mindsets from individualistic cost leadership to collaborative environmental leadership. And we must start now. The future of our industry depends on it
