A worker at the US Port of Savannah’s Garden City Terminal died in a crane accident in the early morning hours of Friday, according to information by the Georgia Ports Authority.
Chatham County Coroner, David Campbell, confirmed that Stephen Cobb, 50, member of the International Longshoremen’s Association Local 1475, died during an equipment accident involving a rubber-tired gantry crane. The results of an autopsy are still pending, local media reported.

The death occurred around 6:00 a.m. on March 26 and the person was pronounced dead at the scene by the Chatham County Coroner’s Office.
The Georgia Ports Authority Police Department is investigating the accident.
