The Cyprus DMS updated its list of approved private ship security contractors, as stated by the Protection of Cyprus Ships Against Acts of Piracy and Other Unlawful Acts Law 2012.
Now, the updated list includes contractors that are authorised to provide Cyprus flagged-ships with the security services specified in the law, if the ship’s operator holds the necessary authorization.
What is more, Cyprus advises operators that want to use the services of a private security contractor to consult the online list before making any agreement, as “the department will not authorize the employment of any contractor that is not on its list.”
