The Sitka Police in Alaska arrested a man, following reports that he was holding a knife and threatened his crew members in Thomsen Harbor, Monday night.
At approximately 8:15 PM, the Sitka Police Department received a 911 call reporting an intoxicated male was on a vessel in Thomsen Harbor brandishing a knife and making life threatening statements towards fellow crewmembers and people passing by on the dock.
The male was also reported to be in possession of a firearm, according to Sitka Police.
Upon arrival to the vessel, police officers attempted to make contact with the 30-year-old, who was inside the vessel and “in an aggravated state”. He allegedly threatened the lives of the officers and anyone in the vicinity.
As he refused to exit the vessel or to follow the officers’ instructions, police officers deployed pepper gas on deck of the vessel. He then came out and surrendered without further incident.
He was eventually arrested on two felony counts of terroristic threatening in the second degree and two counts on assault in the third degree.
As these counts are class C felonies under Alaskan state law, each foreseeing a sentence of a maximum of five years in prison.
