Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Seaspan successfully completed LNG bunkering for a MOL-operated LNG-fueled car carrier in English Bay, Vancouver, Canada, on March 1, 2025.
This marks MOL’s first LNG bunkering in Western North America and the first LNG bunkering for an LNG-fueled car carrier in the region. The LNG was supplied by Seaspan Garibaldi, an LNG bunkering vessel operated by Seaspan Energy, to the MOL-operated car carrier, Lake Herman, via a Ship-to-Ship transfer in English Bay.
We are proud to share in this milestone with MOL as Lake Herman is the first car carrier to be fueled by a Ship-to-Ship LNG bunkering in Western North America. We appreciate the trust from its customer and look forward to a long-lasting relationship

In addition to this achievement, Seatrium has also successfully delivered Nexus Victoria, MOL’s first vessel equipped with a commercially installed carbon capture system. This retrofit involved extensive planning, design, and engineering, with significant upgrades to electrical and automation systems to integrate the CO₂ capture technology.
We are very pleased that we have succeeded in the first LNG bunkering for a car carrier in Western North America in collaboration with Seaspan Energy, which will expand the range of areas where we can deploy environmentally friendly LNG-fueled vessels and provide customers with more options for expanding their clean supply chains.
