Chilean Navy troops vessel ‘Aquiles’ ran aground while it was leaving Puerto Williams, Beagle Channel, Cape Horn area, southernmost Chile. The vessel allegedly strayed off fairway after it fell onto a buoy on February 12, 14.00 local time.
The 1988-built vessel ran aground. The incident was caused from weather conditions, as there was a strong wind with gale-force gashes.
Moreover, after the incident was refloated with the help of a tug and a local ferry.
According to officials the Chilean Navy vessel didn’t suffer severe damage. However, it was taken back to port for further survey and examination.
