BV developed a clean energy credit model to fuel its cotton fiber inspection labs and reduce its carbon footprint. The initiative generated an energy balance from the rent of a hydroelectric turbine, enough to keep the units operating.
BV inspects 85% of the cotton production in Brazil’s Mato Grosso state, receiving an average of 200 kg of cotton samples per day to its testing and inspection laboratories.

This clean energy solution is both an environmentally and financially effective strategy. The Group has reduced its carbon footprint by lowering CO2 emissions, while reduced energy costs have resulted in savings of 20%.
This use of hydroelectric power in these laboratories is significant as this successful project is now expected to be rolled out to other regions in Brazil.
