On 27 November bulk carrier TRAPEZITZA and general cargo vessel PAOLA collided with no injuries reported to the crew of either ship.
The incident took place at the Caraguay dock in Guayaquil, where the TRAPEZITZA, which was leaving a nearby terminal on its way to Matarani, collided with the PAOLA, which was stationary for loading. As a result of the collision, the bow of the PAOLA sustained significant damage.
To mitigate the impact of the accident on key maritime routes, the Galapagos governing council and the Subsecretariat of Ports are making adjustments to maritime schedules.
