Following the crew change crisis that coronavirus has brought, Barbados Port has become a major harbor for the cruise industry, concerning their repatriation operations.
Although Barbados Port is a port of call for passengers to enjoy the beaches, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the port has joined efforts to repatriate seafarers.
Specifically, Barbados’ harbor made vital dock space available, allowing cruise vessels to dock and continue their crew change operations.
For the records, only Barbados has set crew repatriation flights from its airports, allowing thousands seafarers to return home to countries all over the world.
In light of the situation, Royal Caribbean in an effort to repatriate its crew and get them home, its Symphony of the Seas recently docked in Barbados.
Namely, the second-largest vessel, Harmony of the Seas berthed in Barbados to facilitate the repatriation of crew via the Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados, as the local newspaper Loop reported.
Concluding, approximately 10 cruise ships from the Royal Caribbean Group are in the waters off Barbados.
