Dr. Christos Kontovas

Reader in Sustainable Maritime Transportation and Logistics at the School of Engineering, Liverpool John Moores University, UK.
Dr. Kontovas holds a Diploma/M.Eng. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and a Ph.D. in maritime risk management and logistics from NTUA as well. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Transport at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
His research focuses in applying data analytics, mathematical modeling, finance, and decision-making tools to various transportation systems, particularly focusing on maritime transport. Dr. Kontovas is highly active in the field of green maritime transport, with a specific emphasis on ship emissions and their environmental impact, as well as in maritime policy. He has extensive experience gained from participation in several large-scale EU projects and has been a member of various delegations to the International Maritime Organization.
