Two passengers were injured, one of them seriously, after the airboat ‘Gale Force’ collided with a tree, during tourism operations on Sweets Lagoon, Northern Territory, at about 1010 hours on 22 June 2019.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) announced it has commenced an investigation in the collision.
The craft had four passengers and the master onboard at the time of the incident.
Except from the two injuries, the airboat suffered structural and equipment damage.
As part of the investigation, the ATSB will interview the crew and passengers and gather additional information. A final report will be released at the end of the investigation,

Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify those affected and seek safety action to address the issue.
