An Athenian-based software platform which focuses on the monitoring and optimization of vessels secured €3 million from London’s ETF Partners, representing the place digitalization has in the shipping industry.
The marine sector is evolving with more and more technologies playing their own part in improving operations, with vessel monitoring and optimization being among them.
Therefore, DeepSea Technologies secured this amount of money to improve their operations.
The AI platform monitors vessel (or fleet) performance and operational data, sharing the information in real time with owners and charterers. With specific data collected, DeepSea makes recommendations on how to increase efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
Roberto Coustas, Co-Founder and CEO of DeepSea commented that
We saw a big opportunity to apply next-generation technology to an industry that we know well.
Recently, Mr. Mike Konstantinidis, CEO, METIS Cyberspace Technology, while speaking during the 2020 SMART4SEA Athens Forum, highlighted the importance of the industry keeping up with the technological evolution, adding that “The only way to manage effectively these data and to convert raw signals and scattered information into valuable and actionable knowledge is to utilize the power of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.”
