The Finnish Chairmanship will organize an Arctic Environment Ministers’ meeting (AEMM) in Rovaniemi, Finland, from 11 to 12 October 2018. The meeting will discuss climate change, biodiversity, and pollution prevention.
The meeting will gather the Ministers of the Environment of the eight Arctic States (Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden, US), six indigenous Permanent Participant organizations, Arctic Council’s six Working Groups, as well as Arctic Council Observers.

Mr. Kimmo Tiilikainen, Minister of the Environment, Energy and Housing of Finland will chair the meeting.
The main themes of the Ministerial meeting are climate change, biodiversity, and pollution prevention. It will also aim to explore common solutions to these important issues.
The output of the Ministerial meeting will be a ‘Chair’s summary’ which will be shared with the Arctic Council Foreign Ministers’ meeting in May 2019. It will also contribute to the future environmental cooperation of the Arctic Council.
