The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) detained a vessel at Port Hedland and advised them to fix three crew-related deficiencies prior to departure.
Accordingly, onboard the detained vessel called Berge Heng Shan, two seafarers were found to not have a valid seafarer’s employment agreement, another two have not been working longer than 11 months onboard.
The shipowner was able to resolve the issue and the UK-flagged newcastlemax departed for Qingdao the next day.
