Fire broke out on the bulker ‘MV Golden Ocean’, on November 10, while it was in ballast off Bontang, Indonesia. 22 crewmembers were on board the ship at the time of the incident, all of whom successfully evacuated the ship.
‘MV Golden Ocean’ issued an emergency call when the fire broke out, while it also asked search and rescue authorities to evacuate the crew.
The ship was heading to Bontang, where fire was detected in its engine room.
Luckily, the fire was successfully extinguished and the entire crew of 22 people were saved. During the firefighting operation, a number of firefighting tugs were deployed to ensure the safety of the crewmembers.
After the fire, the ship was to the Loktuan Harbor.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
