Shell announced that it launched the fuel availability which will be in in key ports in 2020. Shell’s marine fuels network rolled out the planned fuel availability for 2020 at SIBCON in Singapore on 3 October 2018.
This announcement aims to support ship owners and charterers as they prepare for IMO’s 0.50% global sulphur limit for marine fuels in 2020.

The availability for Shell’s new 0.50% very low sulphur marine fuel oil (VLSFO) was included as part of the rollout. Trials for the new fuel are currently ongoing in Rotterdam, Singapore and New Orleans.
ExxonMobil has also presented the location for its compliant fuels. The company said that its compliant fuel will be available at the Ports in Antwerp, Rotterdam, Genoa and Marseilles in Europe, along with Singapore, Laem Chabang in Thailand and Hong Kong.
In addition, Exxonmobil confirmed that all its IMO compliant, 0.50% sulphur fuels currently developed are residual grades. The formulations are all compatible with each other, provided that bunkering, storage and handling best practice guidance is followed.
