Yilport Holding officially took over the Italian Port of Taranto’s container terminal on a 49-year concession agreement with Port Network Authority of the Ionian Sea (PNAIS).
Specifically, Yilport Holding took over the terminal on February 27, aiming to bring the terminal’s annual capacity up to 3 million TEUs.
By joining this agreement, the terminal reached 22 marine ports around the globe and it first port in Italy. Yilport Holding will now promote the development of commercial traffic and logistics, in particular container handling, general cargo and ro-ro operations.
The agreement was signed on 30 July, at Castello Aragonese in Taranto, Italy by Robert Yuksel Yildirim, Yilport Holding Chairman, and Sergio Prete, the President of Taranto Port Authority.
Overall, the port provides easy access to highway network, and 5 active rail platforms connect Port of Taranto directly to the national railway system.
