Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has completed the first block loading of its first methanol dual-fuelled Kamsarmax bulk carrier at Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu), Inc. on April 21, 2025.
The vessel will be launched in July 2025 and delivered in January 2026. This is the first methanol-fuelled ship in the Kamsarmax series and features reduced emissions such as 10% less CO₂, 80% less NOₓ, and 99% less SOₓ compared to conventional vessels. It measures 229 meters in length with a cargo capacity of 98,000 cubic meters.
The construction of the methanol-fuelled vessel is a historic new step for the Philippine shipbuilding industry. THI, which has been innovating for more than 30 years, will continue to promote the development of new vessels and vessel propulsion technologies, leading the industry towards a more sustainable future.

To remind, earlier this month, Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. launched Japan’s first tugboat equipped with a hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine (ICE).
