The Britannia P&I Club informed that there are regulations in place in Turkish ports which do not allow various activities to take place without the permission of the relevant harbour master.
Local correspondents have advised that there have been a number quite a few cases of fines being imposed and so operators must bare in mind what work requires permission from the harbour master:

- Ship repairs, including painting and hot work;
- Lowering and/or launching lifeboats;
- Transhipment;
- Underwater activity such as diving, cable laying/removing and deploying buoys.
If operators have any questions, Britannia Club advises them to contact teh local port agents or correspondents for clarification.
