As shown in the video below, the Vado Gateway Terminal will receive its final three ship-to-shore cranes, hoping to become the next major logistics hub for the Mediterranean and Europe.
In early July, APM Terminals confirmed that its new Vado Gateway terminal, located in the Vado Ligure Port Complex, North Western Italy, will be inaugurated on 12 December 2019.
The terminal will be constructed with a 700-meter deep-sea berth specifically to handle the latest Ultra Large Container Ships (ULCS), as well as an automated gate and stacking area.
According to APM Terminals, it will be the first semi-automated port in Italy and be integrated with an already existing reefer terminal. The Vado Terminal is located in the Vado Ligure Port Complex, in the northwest part of Italy.
Morever, the terminal will be equipped with 14 reversible gate lanes and technologies such as optical character recognition (OCR) to speed up security procedures to the point where short truck turn times can be reduced to 30 minutes.
APM Terminal’s aspire that the terminal will have an annual TEU capacity of about 1.1 million.
