Wärtsilä announced that it will present its broad offering of products, systems, and solutions at the Nor-Shipping 2017 exhibition and conference, in Oslo. In particular, the company will be highlighting its development work, in preparing for the future trends and needs of the marine industry.
Among other new product updates, the company will be featuring its latest innovation in hybrid propulsion, such as its battery powered propulsion capabilities. Wärtsilä’s hybrid system involves the use of both batteries and conventional marine engines to create significant fuel savings, reduced maintenance costs, and a substantial reduction in exhaust emissions. The system optimises the overall operational performance of the vessel, and allows the engines to operate closer to their optimum design point where the efficiency is highest.
In addition, the company will also focus on a key element of the new age of shipping, digitalisation, as Wärtsilä is at the forefront in utilising this technology to achieve greater efficiencies, improved safety, and lower operating costs for ship owners and operators around the world.
Wärtsilä’s digital lounge will be at stand DO3-36.
