Wan Hai Lines has announced an order for eight new 16,000-TEU methanol-ready container ships, investing more than one billion dollars.
According to international news, the vessels will be constructed by South Korean shipbuilders HD Hyundai Samho and Samsung Heavy Industries. Each ship will cost approximately $186.5 to $204 million, reflecting the investment in advanced, environmentally friendly technology.
This order marks Wan Hai’s second for methanol dual-fuel vessels this year, following a previous commitment in August for 20 additional methanol-powered ships.
Furthermore, earlier this month, Wan Hai announced the launch of biofuels across its global fleet, starting with the WAN HAI 510, which operates on the CI6 route between the Far East and India.
