The video depicts USCGC Healy, the US Coast Guard’s largest and most technologically advanced icebreaker, in Seward, Alaska, last month, to swap out equipment and science teams. The ship is currently preparing for its departure on a summer mission in Arctic.
The 420-foot long icebreaker made headlines last year, when it became the first U.S. surface vessel to reach the North Pole unaccompanied.
The vessel is homeported in Seattle, Washington and was commissioned in 1999.
