President Trump highlighted the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project during his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on 7 February.
President Trump emphasized that Japan will begin importing record amounts of American LNG, with Alaska being the closest major energy source. Trump previously had signed an executive order prioritizing the project, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to leveraging Alaska’s natural gas resources for domestic and international markets.
Japan will soon begin importing historic new shipments of clean American liquefied natural gas in record numbers…We’re talking about the pipeline in Alaska, which is the closest point of major oil and gas to Japan by far…We’re talking about a joint venture of some type between Japan and us having to do with Alaska oil and gas
… sai President Trump.
As explained, Alaska LNG will use clean, energy-efficient, and safe production methods to deliver a stable supply of natural gas for commercialization and for in-state distribution.
The project, being developed by the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation, is expected to deliver from the North Slope gas fields on average about 3.5 billion cubic feet of gas per day, much of it for international markets.
