The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency informs that it received a report on 1st April, of an incident 150 nautical miles north west of of AI Hodeidah.
Reuters highlights that the ongoing attacks by Houthi militants in the Red Sea have caused disruptions to global shipping. This has compelled companies to reroute their vessels on longer and more costly journeys around the southern tip of Africa.
Additionally, there are concerns that the conflict between Israel and Hamas could escalate, potentially leading to destabilization across the wider Middle East region.
The Master of the vessel reported that they were hailed by an entity claiming to be Yemini Navy who requested the vessel turn on its automatic identification system.
