United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure will launch the UAE Maritime Cluster, in order to be an umbrella for the government and private organisations in shipping.
This move aims to support the ministry’s role in creating alternative economic components to the oil sector, while the cluster will gather organisations and individuals in the sector to improve UAE’s position as one of the top five global maritime hubs.
The ministry will also build a communication network that will include various entities in the maritime sector. This network will be a platform for launching activities and events that the UAE Maritime Cluster will implement.
The cluster will enhance their performance by bringing together the competencies and experiences of professionals and experts working in the UAE’s maritime sector. This will build a giant think tank and a portfolio for the national maritime capabilities, to create new opportunities for the development of the maritime sector
Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure in the UAE, stated.
He also stated that the UAE has several investment regarding developing ports and operating terminals in more than 70 countries globally.
What is more, the UAE Maritime Cluster will feature a portal with a database of entities within maritime, in addition to a network of maritime organisations and professionals in the UAE.
Moreover, a chink tank will be launched aiming to explore investment opportunities and innovative maritime projects.
Finally, the UAE Maritime Cluster will feature a business incubator that aspires to back new entrepreneurs, as well as a platform for research and fevelopment (R&D). Various accelerators will also advance the generation of innovative ideas in order to turn them into maritime projects.
