Fisherman killed
One fisherman was killed and two more went missing after a tanker and a fishing boat collided off Sangley Point in Cavite province, before dawn today.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said that motor tanker Hagonoy, with 12 crew members was bound for Manila when it collided with fishing boat Aleha, with 68 crew members on board, at the 2.8 nautical miles off Sangley Point in Cavite City. The incident happened around 3 a.m.
Commodore Luis Tuason, commander of the PCG District National Capital Region, said rescue divers dispatched to the area recovered one dead crew of the fishing boat. Two more unidentified fishermen are missing, he said.
The PCG said that the 65 crew members of the fishing boat have been rescued and brought to its headquarters in Manila.
