Two dead passengers were found onboard the Tallink Silja Europa passenger cruise ship, on October 20, while the vessel was anchored at a port in Tallinn, Estonia, under unknown causes.
According to Finnish Yle, the two ill-fated passengers, a 25-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, were not related, as sources reveal that their cabins were distant. The first body was found at around 3:31 a.m. and the second at 4:41 a.m. in their cabins.
The deceased ones were discovered by other cruise passengers, followed by the arrival of an Estonian police patrol and ambulance.
Both passengers were on the 22-hour cruise from Helsinki, Finland, to Tallinn, Estonia, and back to Helsinki.
Tallink Silja communication director Marika Nöjd quoted to Yle that when a passenger is deceased onboard a cruise vessel, it usually happens to be an older person. She confirmed that the two passengers had no connection, given that they were travelling with different parties.
For the time being, the causes of the fatal incident remain unknown, as police are investigating the factors that caused the two passengers’ death.
Overall, incidents and fatalities onboard cruise vessel seem to be a usual phenomenon, nowadays; Recently, in Australia, some cruise boats of the same company were investigated by the police following the death of a passenger aboard the vessel Lady Rose. Similarly, a crewmember from the cruise ship ‘Vision of the Seas’ was found dead after falling into the water at the port of Livorno Italy.
