Following Torm’s announcement that it is to install scrubbers to almost half of its fleet, the company installed a scrubber system to one more vessel. Specifically, the Danish Tanker operator install a scrubber system to its vessel, in line with its scrubber policy.
Torm expects to install scrubbers to half of its tanker fleet as the company wishes to keep up with the environmental regulations that IMO set, according to which from January 1, 2020, vessels should burn less than 0.5% of sulphur.

Moreover, the Danish company reported in March 2019 its commitment to install 13 new scrubbers to its tankers during 2019 and in the first quarter of 2020.
Generally, as IMO’s 2020 sulphur regulation is approaching, the issue of scrubber seems to be at the core of the discussions in the shipping industry. Thus, BIMCO and Intertanko launched a Q&A addressing the contractual implications owners and charterers consider when chartering ships fitted with scrubbers.
