Engines for first LNG OSV under US flag
Wärtsilä to deliver an integrated propulsion system for the first LNG-fuelled US-flagged OSVs Wärtsilä says that it is to deliver an integrated propulsion system based on the use of LNG for two offshore support vessels for operation in the Gulf of Mexico. These will be the first LNG-fuelled US-flagged OSVs.The two advanced platform supply vessels will be owned by Harvey Gulf International Marine. The contract includes options for supplying propulsion equipment for additional follow-on vessels.Wärtsilä's scope of supply is for the dual-fuel machinery, an electrical and automation package, complete propulsion, the LNG fuel storage and handling components, in an integrated package. The ships, to the STX Marine SV310DF design, will be powered by six-cylinder 34DF dual-fuel engines. The LNG storage capacity of 290m3 enables more than a week of vessel operational time. In addition, the vessels will carry 5,520dwt at load line and have a transit speed of 13 knots.
