Port of Corpus Christi secures another $59 million to upgrade channel

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced its Fiscal Year 2019 Work Plan, which includes an additional $59 million in funding for the Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project (CIP), bringing the total Federal appropriations for the CIP to $95 million. The estimated CIP cost is $360 million, of which the federal government is responsible for $230 million.

Port of Virginia to be the deepest port on the US east coast

The Port of Virginia’s Wider, Deeper, Safer project to deepen and widen the Norfolk Harbor’s commercial shipping channels has secured full federal authorization. This project will make the Port of Virginia the deepest port on the US East Coast. The dredge work will deepen the inner harbor’s commercial channels to 55 feet deep and the channel in the Chesapeake Bay to 56 feet deep.
