Global Container Terminals (GCT), a container terminal operator in North America, has joined the TradeLens supply chain platform. By taking part in TradeLens, GCT aims to securely connect with supply chain partners including ocean carriers, beneficial cargo owners, and railways.

The Namibian Ports Authority reports a remarkable improvement in the numbers of containers handled, since the beginning of operations at the new container terminal at the port of Walvis Bay, almost one month ago.

The Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority authorized “critical-path” professional services for the Houston Ship Channel expansion project. The expansion of the ship channel, the busiest in the United States, is seen as a driver for safety and future growth of commerce.

The Moravian-Silesian Region, Statutory City of Ostrava, the Railway Administration Authority (SŽDC), Concens Investments and Antwerp Port Authority will collaborate to develop a new container terminal in the Mošnov industrial zone. On September 18, 2019 they signed a Memorandum of Understanding to kick-start this new project, called the Mosnov Multimodal Transport Terminal.

Carnival Cruise Line secured an approval by the Miami-Dade County Commission for a complete renovation and major expansion of Cruise Terminal F at PortMiami, to enable accommodation of the company's next class of ships. 

According to a recent economic forecast, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Canada said that automation will cut thousands of good jobs at marine terminal operations in British Columbia. This would cost millions of dollars from the provincial economy per year, the forecast notes.

On September 13, Equinor's emergency response centre received reports of a fire in the engine room of the tanker 'Dubai Harmony'. The ship is moored at the quayside at the Sture terminal in Øygarden municipality in Hordaland. The fire in the engine room of the crude oil tanker has now been extinguished. Namely, the fire has now been extinguished and the fire service is continuing to cool the area where the fire took place.

Malaysian marine pilots alert that the planned construction and operation of an LNG terminal, located near the Port Klang that handles many passengers daily, would impact public and port safety. The terminal is expected to be completed in 2022.

On 12 September, the Indian Prime Minister inaugurated India’s second riverine Multi Modal terminal, built at Sahibganj in Jharkhand, in the eastern part of the country. Built within a record time of two years, this is the second of the three Multi Modal Terminals on river Ganga under Jal Marg Vikas Project. 

The British Port of Ayr welcomed the opening of its new Bute Terminal, expected to support Scotland’s agricultural sector and enhance the wider economic prosperity of the region through its 4,000sqm of storage space, the Associated British Ports (ABP) announced.
