Last week DNV GL and Klaveness Ship Management report that they conducted the world’s first digital survey on board the container ship MV Bardu. The survey gave full insights into the maintenance data from the vessel through live dashboards. The dashboard tells how many maintenance jobs MV Bardu has had in the last year and how many jobs where done before and after on due date.

Software and information provider, INTTRA, presented the results of an industry survey, which tried to understand the appetite of businesses for digital transformation. Specifically, the survey found that 71% of the respondents are well on their way to full digitalization.

The International Transport Workers Federation has commissioned the Yale University to carry out a research investigating seafarers' mental health issues, to raise awareness for the mental health wellness and wellbeing of seafarers, by understanding which risk factors are associated with seafarer stress, depression and anxiety.

Maritime UK urged the government and EU to extend the Article 50 process if a deal is not agreed by October, as a recent survey by Maritime UK showed that 66% of UK business leaders think a ‘no-deal’ scenario is likely, with just half of them saying that they have made preparations for such an outcome.

A survey by Deloitte found that shipping companies prefer to convert to LNG, in order to comply with the IMO's stricter new international emissions standards for marine bunker fuels. However, lack of refuelling and bunkering infrastructure would raise obstacles to the large scale uptake of LNG as a transport fuel.

The World Ocean Council invited the Arctic ocean businesses community to participate in a survey on the current state of data collection efforts and capabilities in the Arctic. The ARICE project targets to reduce risks to industry activities by making the scope and scale of Arctic ocean and atmosphere observations wider.
