Spanish NGO Open Arms has been fined a 20-day administrative blockade and fine of up to €10,000 for carrying three back-to-back rescues in the Mediterranean Sea.

On 4th October, a Coast Guard boat crew rescued 12 people, after they were forced to abandon the M/V Bonnie G that was taking on water and ran aground just south of the airport in St. Thomas.

On 26th September, a group of commercial fishermen saved a crewmember who fell overboard from a tanker off the coast of Boston, Massachusetts. 

On 13th September, the U.S. Coast Guard rescued a tanker crew member from the water 10 miles offshore Galveston, Texas.

Last week, on 31st August, U.S. Coast Guard, rescued 18 people from a passenger vessel which ran aground near the Columbia Glacier. 

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has coordinated the rescue of three people on board a catamaran 835km Southeast of Cairns in the Coral Sea.

Turkey’s General Directorate of Maritime Affairs announced that a Turkish cargo ship completed a miraculous rescue of a seafarer who had been adrift in the Black Sea for up to 20 hours. 

Four crew members were successfully rescued two days ago from a 500-tonne ship that ran aground near the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

On 24th August, at 9:40 a.m., the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) received a call from the Lizard Island Resort in North Queensland, about a 16-metre sailing vessel aground on Waining Reef, 26 km north west of Lizard Island.
