South Korean court charges one over Stellar Daisy sinking

A South Korean court granted the arrest warrant for the ex-head of maritime affairs at Polaris Shipping, on January 24. However, the court dismissed the arrest warrants for the head of Polaris as well as an inspector from the Korean Register and two men who worked for a private survey firm. The Busan Coast Guard had requested a warrant of arrest on the 'charge of violation of shipping safety law'.

USCG: Fines for illegal charter operations

The US Coast Guard terminated the voyage of the 20-foot pleasure craft 'Like I Care', with nine passengers-for-hire aboard Sunday in Baker’s Haulover Inlet after discovering multiple safety violations. With this regard, USCG warned that owners and operators of illegal charter vessels can face maximum civil penalties of $41,456 for illegal passenger-for-hire operations.
