According to a recent statement, ABS and P&O Maritime Logistics (POML) have agreed to a pioneering condition-based class (CBC) pilot project for the platform supply vessel (PSV), DMS Courageous. It is said that this three-phase agreement paves the way for a transformation from calendar-based to condition-based classification.

According to Vessels Value, leading offshore owners are feeling the impacts of overzealous valuations of the past. Because of today's offshore market conditions, asset values have suffered greatly, making vessel financiers worried about the prospects of recouping money lent to finance inactive offshore fleets. The market valuations are more than likely breaking mortgage covenants, and the write downs that are necessary are more significant because of the original generous valuations of these assets.

A miscommunication between a crane operator a platform supply vessel's crewmembers, led a mooring rope to the side of the vessel. After that the port side engine shut down and there was partial loss of vessel propulsion. The deck crew did not notify the bridge in time when the rope was lowered into the water, and thus the propeller was fouled by the rope.

A platform supply vessel approached a platform to deliver the cargo via snatch lift. The crane did not have enough boom reach and as the PSV approached the platform, the vessel’s stern collided with the platform mooring bollard which was damaged. 

The Marine Safety Forum issued a report, regarding two separate incidents reported, within the last month, on two chartered vessels, where limit switches have not operated as expected, causing damage to Fast Rescue Craft, both with obvious potential for serious injury.
