Iranian media informed that an improper loading of cargo has caused a ship to capsize in the southern Port of Bandar Abbas, on March 19. After the incident, port workers rushed to retrieve any of the 153 containers that suddenly sank. The cargo ship was carrying the flag of Comoros, with reports mentioning that one Indian seaman sustained injuries in the foot.

The largest fuel tanker to enter Port of Newcastle in 220 years of commercial operations arrived on March 18. The 244-metre Pro Alliance long range 2 class tanker berthed at Stolthaven's Mayfield 7 dedicated bulk liquids terminal, which is a purpose-built facility serving vessels of that size. This new milestone comes after the arrival of the port's first long range 1 tanker in early January.

DP World is possible to start using the fourth terminal at its flagship Jebel Ali port during the second half of 2019, as the use of the terminal was delayed because of a softening market. Given the slow-down in the market, DP World had decided to postpone the utilization of the new terminal and refurbish Terminal 1 instead.

Apart from choosing green fuels and scrubbers, ports come to add another solution: Cold Ironing. This is the process of providing shoreside electrical power to a ship at berth, while its main and auxiliary engines are turned off.

The previous week four super-post Panamax container cranes were voyaged to Tacoma, Washington. In the meantime, four older STS cranes were removed at the Port of Seattle, a sign of the ever-increasing size of the modern container vessels.

He commented that the restrictions in domestic trade have a crucial impact on American consumers and producers.

Qatar Free Zones Authority announced the launch of a new port and marine cluster, called 'Marsa', which will be located at the heart of Umm Alhoul Free Zone. The area will be near the Hamad Port and just 20 minutes from Doha. It will also be a fully integrated marine ecosystem, capable of supporting various marine businesses.
