Polish LNG terminal receives more financing to expand

Approximately €128 million from the European Regional Development Fund is invested in extending the Świnoujście LNG terminal. The current investment adds to over €250 million invested by the EU in the LNG terminal and to more than €2 billion in Polish energy infrastructure since 2007. The LNG regasification terminal in Świnoujście is the biggest LNG facility in Northern Europe and in the Central and Eastern Europe.

First LNG bunkering in Polish ports takes place

Grupa LOTOS and PGNiG carried out two commercial bunkers of LNG, between 13 and 18 March 2019, at the at sea ports of Gdańsk and Gdynia in Poland. These are the first operations that took place in Polish ports. Namely, on March 13, 14 tonnes of LNG were injected into the 'Fure Valo's' tanks, which is owned by Gothia Tankers. The company aims to develop the LNG-fueled fleet, and aspires to have six such vessels by the end of the year. The second bunkering took place on March 18, where 18 tonnes of LNG were transported from a tanker to the tanks of the 'Ireland' ship.

Świnoujście LNG terminal unloaded 2 mil. tons of LNG in 2018

2018 was a period of increased work for Polskie LNG, as there were positive results for the LNG terminal in Świnoujście and the implementation of the LNG Terminal Expansion Program. As part of the latter, Polskie LNG initiated two tender processes, the land part for regasification installation, third LNG tank and LNG transshipment system for rail, and the sea part for additional quay ship.

Poland receives 50th LNG cargo

The Polish LNG terminal in Świnoujscie received its 50th vessel delivering LNG. The first delivery took place in December 2015. Namely, about 130,000 m3 of LNG will be delivered through this 50th delivery. Specifically, more than 4,000 tank trucks were loaded at the terminal, in which 9.6 million m3 of LNG were delivered by 49 methane carriers to date.

Lithuania LNG port expects to turn into a Baltic hub in 2021

Lithuania's LNG import terminal, 'Independence', is expected to double its LNG volumes after the opening of gas pipelines to Poland and Finland, 2021. The pipeline opening will turn the Baltic Port into a regional hub. 'Independence' mostly imported Norwegian LNG for domestic use, using a fifth and a third of its annual capacity of 2.7 million tonnes of LNG, after changing in 2017, along with its first US cargo import.
