On May 24, the Panama Canal welcomed the Neopanamax container vessel "OOCL France", making it the largest capacity vessel to transit the Expanded Canal, since it was inaugurated, in June 2016. The containership, which measures 366.47 meters in length and 48.23 meters in beam, with 13,926 total TEU allowance, transited northbound from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean.

On May 19th, the port of Rotterdam welcomed the MOL Triumph, one of the three container vessels of the world with a capacity of over 20,000 TEU. The ship will be calling on Rotterdam over the next few weeks. Over the next two months, the world’s top three ultra large container carriers will also be entering the port.

Orient Overseas Container Line announced the naming of its latest container ship, the OOCL Hong Kong, at a christening ceremony held at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard, on Geoje Island, on May 12. With a carrying capacity at 21,413 TEU, the OOCL Hong Kong is one of the largest container ships in the world.

Eurogate announced that Ocean Alliance is getting ready for its first scheduled call at Eurogate Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven. The “OOCL Tianjin” will tie up for the first time on the Ocean Alliance NEU1 service, on 13 May 2017.
