The video shows the world’s biggest heavy-lift vessel 'Pioneering Spirit' completing the heaviest installation ever executed in a single lift offshore to date. On 2 June, the Pioneering Spirit installed the 22,000 t Drilling Platform topsides for Equinor’s Johan Sverdrup development on the Norwegian continental shelf.

The Danish Maritime Authority informed that it transferred ArcticWeb to Norway from June 1st 2018. The Norwegian Coastal Administration will now take over the ownership and operation of the web platform. ArcticWeb is a web based platform aiming to improve the safety of navigation in the Arctic.

From 10 to 18 April 2018, Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority carried out an audit of COSL Drilling Europe and the company's follow-up of electrical facilities, technical safety and drilling-related systems on COSLInnovator. The audit found non-conformities for a number of issues.

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway launched an investigation into a lifting incident on the Jotun B facility in the Norwegian North Sea, on 19 May 2018. An investigation team is about to start work on Jotun B this week. The team wants to clarify the course of events and identify the direct and underlying causes.

Yilport Oslo informed that it has experienced a significant increase of intra-European cargo being discharged in 2018. Specifically, in April container volume increased by 21% compared to 2017. Total growth for 2018 is 7% for the first 4 months. A total of 179 container vessels were operated in this period. 

Norwegian gas exports' price will probably increase this year in the middle of strong demand, but will decrease again in 2019 as LNG deliveries in Europe are expected to increase, the Norwegian government mentioned during its revised budget. With the increase in LNG access, the gas prices will fall under 1.5 Norwegian crowns per sm3.

Norwegian shipbuilder Havyard delivered the first of thirteen battery-powered ferries with automatic fjord crossing functionality at Norwegian transport conglomerate Fjord 1. The ferry 'Bnr 132 MF Husavik' was christened on 14 May in a ceremony at the yard in Leirvik in Sogn.

Kongsberg Norcontrol signed an agreement with the Norwegian Coastal Administration for delivery, operations and maintenance of radars to the maritime traffic service. The agreement has a potential total value of up to NOK 250 million and a duration of up to eleven years. The agreement enables the technical extension of the maritime traffic service area's service areas in the following years,

The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy announced this year’s licensing round in mature areas on the Norwegian continental shelf, namely the Awards in Predefined Areas 2018. Awarding acreage in mature areas in annual APA-rounds is part of the Norwegian Government's attempt to a stable and long-term petroleum policy

The Norwegian Parliament adopted a resolution to reduce cruise ships and ferries emissions in the Norwegian fjords, no later than 2026. This regulation aims to make the fjords the world’s first zero emission zone at sea, while it will have a positive impact on transport, tourism, and the maritime industry.
