Nor-Shipping is making its first move outside Norway, with a new initiative to help maritime and ocean industry players "realize the almost limitless business potential of the ocean space". Nor-Shipping’s Opening Oceans Conference, taking place in Copenhagen on 2-3 May 2018, will bring businesses together to discuss key opportunities and facilitate fresh collaborations.

Paul R. Walters, Director, Cyber Service Delivery, Cybersecurity & Software Integrity, ABS, says that cyber hygiene is critical and calls for actions towards cyber awareness. Among many agreements signed during Nor Shipping 2017 this week, DNV GL also partnered with Samsung Heavy Industries to develop new designs for LNG carriers. The Joint development project will focus on the development of two 30K LNG carrier designs, one with membrane type LNG tanks and one with type-C (pressurized) LNG tanks.

A large-scale rectangular marine Scrubber was unveiled by MHI and MHPS at the “Nor-Shipping 2017” maritime trade show in Oslo, Norway. The companies claim that the adoption of a rectangular box-shape configuration is a 'world's first' and is able to offer outstanding ease of installation in small spaces and superlative emissions treatment for high-output engines.
