LR partners with HGS on digital solutions boosting shipping

LR announced its collaboration with Hyundai Global Services, aiming to provide value to the maritime sector through digital solutions, by firstly appraising HGS's Smart Ship System as ‘Digital Class Ready’. Both partners will conduct tests on the system, that will be installed and operate on a ship, to acknowledge if the system is ready to comply with data-driven classification requirements.

Wärtsilä reveals new voyage planning and optimisation solution

Wärtsilä revealed its new Navi-Planner voyage planning and optimisation solution during Nor-Shipping 2019. Developed by Transas, a Wärtsilä company, the new Navi-Planner utilizes the connected ECDIS. The new connectivity enables onboard voyage planning to be cut from 5 hours to 30min, and it also aims to provide better navigational safety standard for less experienced seafarers.

UN to analyze future ocean strategies at Nor-Shipping 2019

The UN Global Compact will hold a High Level Meeting on Ocean as part of Nor-Shipping 2019, gathering politicians, maritime and ocean industry executives, UN representatives, NGOs and other key stakeholders in Oslo. UNGC will also launch its new report 'Global Goals - Ocean Opportunities', in which it assesses a multi-stakeholder approach to how ocean industries can meet the UN Sustainability Goals.
