NYK and NYK Group companies MTI Co. Ltd., as well as Japan Marine Science Inc., released partial findings of a study on collision risk judgement and the autonomous operation of vessels, on 26 December.
Korean Register has launched the industry’s first ‘Survey & Audit Preparation Guide’, in order to help shipowners to check exactly what items need to be prepared for their next vessel survey audit, before submitting an application.
The European Commission informed about the launch of a new system based on EU-funded research, that once fitted on vessels, ship teams will be able to locate passengers instantly, on board and in the water. The solution aims to address specifically emergency situations, such as sinking, when crews need to find and evacuate all passengers quickly.
